Hello all, So I'm in the Navy stationed in San Diego (pretty close to LA!) I've read the first few chapters of The Actors Life and am currently still reading the book. I really want to get into acting but, as stated, I can't sell all and move for another 3 years. I also have no acting experience whatsoever. Th…

Hi guys, I'm an aspiring actor who is looking to get more professional experience. I've been acting in volunteer/smaller scale theatre for basically my entire life, but I've always wanted to pursue it more seriously. The thing is, I also have a full time office job, without much flexibility in hours. It pays well, but…

Recently I went to a convention that I audition for and got invited. At said convention I received a scholarship to attend the New York Film Academy which I was really excited about as I'm relatively new to the industry. However, at this event I was scouted by many agents but 2 that I'm interested in that are intereste…

Hey r/acting, I'm currently living in Toronto. Canadian citizen. I'm going to be taking a few acting classes soon, but I wanted to know how is Toronto for actors? On the sidebar, I see "moving to" for LA, NY, and Atlanta. Thought Toronto or Vancouver would be there as it's a big busy city. Are any of you currently in T…

Hello, I am a new actor and I am getting headshots done for the first time. I am just wondering what kind of clothes I should wear, what kind of photos I should take, and what kind of emotions/attitudes I should portray. If someone could drop examples of headshots they have done that would be helpful. Thank in…

Im planning on becoming an actor when I’m older and decided to start by educating myself, I know you need an agent and they’ll be informed when a role is opened, but I also heard that you can record yourself and send it to whoever you’re auditioning to.

Looking for some opinions! I recently moved to LA and am excited to even get the opportunity to submit myself or audition for anything, but I haven’t had the money yet to subscribe to one of these sites. Now that I do/will soon, which one should I put my money into? I currently have a profile on Actor Access (the free…

I'm an Asian girl, buy my voice doesn't sound "girly" or "pleasant". The -way- I talk kinda reminds me of the YouTuber IISuperwomanII and the actress Awkwafina, and the -tone- of my voice is lower than both of them. Also, I -look- very girly. I always wondered, are a lot of actors seriously traumatized people, that try desperately to keep normal in real life and let all the pain loose during acting. Take Bryce Dallas Howard for example. She can cry on queue and laugh hysterically after that, it is quite creepy and uncomfortable to watch. &…

Hey everyone! So as the title says I’ve been holding back from getting headshots because I feel like headshots should feature you in your most natural state (please correct me if it’s wrong to think this) and I fear it may prevent me from being casted in anything because it may limit what parts I can play.
