Can a more experienced actor explain to me why almost all of the most remarkable acting performances I can think of aren’t the actors picking up new mannerisms or traits, but rather themselves AS a certain character?
Some of my favorite actors that I go out of my way to watch their work, hardly ever seem to change drastically to fit a role. I recognize certain ticks or mannerisms of the actors because I am constantly watching them, yet I’m constantly amazed at their ability to convince me that they are that character rather than me…
