(Tl;dr at the bottom) Hi, this is my first actual post and I’ve had my account for awhile, but this has been wracking my brain for a long time and I don’t know what to do. I’m sorry I know this is pretty long, but I’ve also never really talked to anyone about all this before. A little background, I’ve wanted to act sin…

Hiya! So, I posted something not too long ago aswell.. but as I'm a beginner actor, is there anything I should know? Do I need professionally taken headshots? Where can I find an agent? How much experience will I need?

I'm an NYC based actor (I hate it here) and I'm looking to move to Wilmington NC to be closer to friends and family. But I'm also under the assumption that there's actually quite a bit of work down there. Does anyone living in or around the area have any advice, or experience in the scene? I'm sure it's probably much d…

I used to be an aspiring artist my entire childhood. But now I’m completely cynical about the odds of me ever accomplishing anything or making any money cuz I saw what the odds of being a successful artist are (whether it is actor, writer, director, musician). Hey! I’m writing a 10 minute short and I’m thinking of submitting for SAG status. For obvious reasons, I’m having some cast members perform remotely on Zoom. I know that in order to work with SAG talent you need to have a union-approved payroll company. For timesheets that need an actor’s signature, would it be a good…

EDIT TO ADD CONTEXT: I often hear about how some actors negotiate contracts and I was just wanting to know how you would do it properly and without jeopardizing your relationship with the company you're auditioning for.

Hi, sorry to bother. I have a honesly dumb homework to do for uni, asking a few simple question to a professional actor, as it's my goal job. These are really simple question like "how it is to be an actor" and I don't want to ask any of the professional I know, as I find this really non-professional. If anyone don't m…

Hey acting Reddit, this is my first ever post on Reddit as a whole because I genuinely don't know where else to go for advice with this time-sensitive situation, so please be nice to me. If I'm not supposed to post here, or this isn't the right place or something, forgive me

Just wanted to share this with someone. It's a boutique agency, they have a good amount of actors that are just starting out (like me), but they also have a bunch of actors with multiple credits, including guest stars and the like. It's hard to say where the industry will be next year, but I'm hoping this will get me o…

Hey y’all, an actor from NY here. I’m getting the sense productions are ramping up and I always see or hear the whole “don’t wait for your agent” or “you do the 90% of the work” or anything similar. So I managed to find a pilot that is in “Pre-Production” on IMDb Pro without a cast and I also found audition sides on sh…

Looking into details of acting/comedy in LA. How often do you get called in to audition (from things like Backstage/Actors Access)? Also, what jobs do you have to make ends meet? Looking into going back to hosting/winery tasting room/barista to possibly have more flexibility. Does anyone make a normal 'day/office job'…

Ok, if you saw my first post, it was how I got my first gig in Amazon Studios The Romanoffs. It was as background or extra. Almost 4 years ago, my journey as an actor began. Back then I was a struggling real estate agent, father and husband, caught in an economy that was shrinking. Forgive me for asking this because I know it's been asked a million times.
